Dawn and Hawkes - Café con Siete
We try to do everything with love and treat everyone with love, siempre. So, on a sunny afternoon in April, when Dawn and Hawkes sang, “Have you ever let a stranger become someone you love,” it felt like a serendipitous understanding of one another. As though we were raised at the same table, on the same values. From that moment, Chris Hawkes and Miranda Dawn felt like newcomers no more, but people we loved, como familia.
Café con Siete - Housewarming
At the core of any good party is good company. We’d be lying if we didn’t admit to loving a good fiesta, but what matters most to our familia is having a reason to gather together. So, when Housewarming came to Café con Siete, we wanted it to feel like a homecoming. Like they were coming to a celebration in a new place, with old friends.
Café Con Siete - Tiarra Girls
Juntos es Mejor. “Together is Better.” It’s a phrase that our familia uses a lot. It expresses our willingness to extend a helping hand, to love fiercely, and journey together. It speaks to our family culture, how we value hospitality, and enjoy inviting others into our casa—and, on certain Fridays, to Café con Siete. But, when theTiarra Girls came to visit, “Juntos es Mejor” did something special. It united Siete and the Tiarra Girls in our commonalities: our Mexican-American heritage, our values, and our stories.
CAFÉ CON SIETE - GOOD FIELD
Around here, we elect to keep the meals well-done, but we like to keep the conversations raw and real. Which is why, arguably one of the coolest parts of Café con Siete is the opportunity to get to know artists in a more intimate environment. So, whenGood Field showed up, we were delighted to hear the four fellas play theirsongs in a stripped down performance, and get to know them, Siete-style.
Café con Siete - Daisy O'Connor
WhenDaisy O’Connor came for her Café con Siete performance and visit, she admitted that seven (siete) is her lucky number. And, when she realized that “Garza” translates to “Heron” in English, a big smile of astonishment spread across her face as she exclaimed, “I have a massive tattoo of a Heron running down my leg!” Well. If that’s not serendipitous, then we don’t know what is.
Trio Los Vigilantes - Café con Siete
Friday, February 8th, it hailed little white pebbles of ice around the office. The same way people say the only constant in life is change, Texans know that irregular weather conditions are the norm around here. Tan lines at Christmas? Possible. Polar vortexes en Febrero? Probable. Inside the cafe, however, we welcomed the talented Trio Los Vigilantes to join us for our fifth Café Con Siete. In doing so, we escaped the cold and warmed up our corazones with a little música de México.
